This panel discussion will examine how boards can respond swiftly and effectively to unforeseen challenges and the crucial role they play in enabling organisational agility. Join us as we uncover strategies, insights, and best practices to navigate the turbulent waters of contemporary leadership and governance.
Mike is a Partner with over 30 years’ experience. He specialises in advising the primary sector, manufacturing, preschools, property, and exporting. He is passionate about working with clients to make better business decisions in a world where information and knowledge are key.
His accounting experience includes operating outsourced virtual controller roles for businesses until such time as they grow in size and take on someone internally. He has been involved in providing financial accounting support for an IPO listing, as well as many business acquisitions and financing.
He has extensive governance experience and is a director on the Nexia Australasia Board as well as the Nexia New Zealand (Christchurch) board. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors.

Laura Meriluoto is the Head of the Department of Economics and Finance and Associate Professor of Economics at University of Canterbury [UC] Business School, where she has worked since 2000. Her research in applied microeconomic theory has covered a range of topics including the effects of the fixed price offer mechanism in Trade Me auction strategies and the use of filtering and pricing to combat spam email. Her empirical research covers topics such as misinvoicing in the China-New Zealand trade and the effects of climate change on the quality of New Zealand wines. Laura teaches Industrial Organisation and is the coordinator for the Economics and Finance Internship and Consultancy Project course.
Laura has been a director of Competition Law and Policy Institute of New Zealand since 2013 and its chair in 2016-2019. She was a director (intern) of Canterbury Development Corporation in 2016-2018 during the time it transitioned to ChristchurchNZ. Laura is a member of the UC Academic Board and the UC Business School Faculty Board.

Kendall is a Partner, Strategist & experienced Board Chair
A professional leader for over 30 years, a journey that continues to energise, challenge, and one that he remains passionate about. His leadership career has taken him around the world, serving as an Army Officer, Strategy Implementation, Board Chairman, Independent Director, and Chief Executive.
In his current role, he works closely with many of New Zealand's admired brands and to positively influence senior business leaders as they navigate and adapt to the change in our current market environment.

Greg is a Partner at Pivot & Pace Ltd. He is a strategic adviser, executive coach, and experienced director and chair. He works with boards and executive teams across New Zealand, Australia, and the USA.
Greg is also a published business author and speaker, passionate about helping organisations lead effectively through change and uncertainty.
