Overview

This session is being facilitated by Susan Paterson who will take you through the steps involved in building your board career. These include:

  • Developing your networks
  • Developing your self
  • Continuing professional development
  • Maximising your opportunities; 
  • and selecting the right role for you.


Susan will also discuss the support offered by the IoD and how they can assist you to reach your governance goals.

Catering is not provided at our brown bag lunch sessions.  Please feel free to bring your own lunch with you.

Susan Paterson

Susan has been a professional director for the past 20 years. She is chair of Theta Systems Ltd. Her other directorships include SkyTV, Arvida Group, Goodman Property Trust, Les Mills NZ Ltd and the Electricity Authority.

Susan has a keen interest in sport, education and the environment, is chair of the Avantidrome, past chair of Auckland Hockey and the NZ Eco-Labelling Trust and a past board member of St. Cuthbert’s College, EECA and current commissioner of TEC.

Susan was a member of the working group reviewing Swimming NZ, is a Chartered Fellow of the IoD and has been on the Auckland Branch Committee since 2010. Susan was made an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit (ONZM) for services to corporate governance.
