We invite applicants that are

- A member of the IoD Waikato branch, or your membership application submission date proceeds the date the award application is received
- In the early stages of your governance journey i.e. with fewer than five years’ governance experience

- ‘Emerging Director’ position for 24 months with ConneXu. The emerging director will have the right to participate in board and audit committee meetings but will not be able to vote on any board resolution. The successful applicant will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement with the sponsoring board. The position will be unpaid
Applicants cannot be

- A current mentee participating in IoD’s Mentoring for Diversity programme, Tautua Pasifika mentoring programme and/or an appointed Future Director currently observing on a Host Board
To apply you must

- Demonstrate a commitment to developing your governance skills
- Have skills and experience that would be useful to a board
- Have at least three years’ experience in a senior management role; or as a professional business advisor; or from growing your own business; or from sitting on a NFP board or a small company board
- Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of sound governance
- Have not held a significant governance role to date. Roles as a school trustee or officer in a local sports, school or community organisation or club are excluded
- Disclose any association with either the Emerging Director Award sponsor and/or any local branch sponsor
