Overview

While digital infrastructures allow many organisations to keep operating under challenging conditions, they also pose more cyber risk than ever. The reliance on online and many more people working from home increases the risk of data privacy breaches, fraud and cyber-attacks.

Cyber-resilience means being prepared for a cyber-attack, and also being able to keep a business operating, and being able to quickly respond to and recover from an attack.

Peter discusses how to:

  • ensure there is sufficient digital capability on your board to stay on top of emerging technologies, risks and opportunities – and to hold management to account.
  • embed a culture into your organisation where staff at all levels understand that cyber security and data privacy is a priority. Ensure adequate training.
  • review the information the board receives to ensure it is comprehensive and timely.

This recording will expire on 25 February 2022.

In partnership with Aura Information Security.

Peter Bailey

Peter has been with Aura for nearly a decade, holding multiple roles within the business during that time, and taking the reins as General Manager in 2015. As one of New Zealand’s oldest and largest specialist security consultancies, Aura has a strong track record in delivering high quality customer service and solutions.

Based out of Aura’s Wellington offices, Peter oversees a team of more than 40 experts – all hand-picked from around the world – to deliver a full range of services to Government institutions, SMEs and corporate clients in New Zealand and Australia. This includes consulting services, penetration, red team, Wi-Fi and mobile testing; as well as security audits and the Virtual Security Officer service.

Peter is a respected thought leader in the cyber security industry and is regularly called upon by media and government to provide both comment and advice. His involvement in multiple government and corporate forums ensures that he is well-informed on the latest security trends, and he uses his knowledge to brief and help executive teams and boards around the country. As the main spokesman for Aura with the Institute of Directors, Peter has a wealth of experience and knowledge when talking to boards about cyber risk and its impacts.

He has worked in digital advertising and held a range of customer service and production roles at organisational risk consultancy Sysdoc. In late 2010 Bailey joined the Ministry of Justice as national operations training manager before joining Aura InfoSec in March 2013.
