Overview

The First Break panel discussion and networking event is designed around sharing useful steps, tips and trends for those in the planning, early and emerging stages of their governance journey. Panellists share how they transitioned into governance, developed their portfolios and engaged with opportunities through the IoD, and other professional learning, to forge their governance careers. Hear their experiences and thoughts on future trends and developments in the sectors they operate in, and how the principles of good governance are played out.

The discussion theme is Enhancing the board and executive connection.

Effective connectivity between boards and executives can be key to optimising the leadership of organisations, especially helping navigate ever-increasing change and disruption. Our panel will share their key insights on building a resilient and effective working relationship between a board and an executive/executive team – what works well and key learnings.

The panel will also share their experience and viewpoints on the value of executives holding governance roles, transitioning to full-time directorship, and effective succession planning across governance and executive roles.

Following the panel discussion, you have the opportunity to network with senior directors over drinks and canapés.

Special thanks to our hosts, Dentons.
