
Our council
Our Council acts as a guardian of the Institute of Directors, representing members and ensuring they are well supported.
Each year, our branch committees are entitled to appoint one Councillor, except for Auckland and Wellington who may appoint two.
Council is responsible for:
- Representing our members across Aotearoa New Zealand
- Appointing members to our board (with the advice of our Nominations Committee)
- Appointing a Nominations Committee, Membership Committee and Standards Committee
- Monitoring the overall performance of our board
- Overseeing membership matters (e.g. setting of member subscription fees, membership categories, granting of chartered and fellowship status to eligible members)
- Hearing and determining complaints against our members
- Establishing and/or disestablishing branches.
Our Council also elects a President and Vice President who serve for a two-year term.
