We are delighted to have well regarded businessman and director James Ogden as our guest speaker.
James has sat on many boards as a full-time director since 2002 including New Zealand Government–owned bank Kiwibank, New Zealand Post, AgriQuality, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Council of Victoria University of Wellington.
NZX and ASX listed companies include Summerset Group Holdings, Vista Group International and The Warehouse Group.
He describes himself as “a thought leader unafraid to take a contrarian view and having in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the companies on which I sit as a board member”.
James has witnessed and experienced governance and its impacts from multiple perspectives and will share his leadership insights and personal journey.
James Ogden provides consulting services to organisations in the private sector on mergers and acquisitions and investment strategy.
James previous directorships include the NZX and ASX listed companies The Warehouse Group Limited, Summerset Group Holdings Limited and Vista Group International Limited; is Chair of the Investment Committee of Pencarrow Private Equity funds; and a member of the New Zealand Markets Disciplinary Tribunal.
Before becoming a consultant and director, James had extensive investment banking experience including six years as Country Manager for Macquarie Bank Limited and five years as a Director of Credit Suisse First Boston. James worked for eight years in the New Zealand dairy industry in chief executive and finance roles and in London for six years in finance roles.
James has a professional accounting background with extensive experience in investment banking and capital markets. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand, Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors, Member of the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand Inc. and a former New Zealand Stock Exchange Broker.
James Ogden holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (First-class Honours) in Accounting from Victoria University of Wellington.
James resides in Wellington, New Zealand.
