Institute of Directors recognises Manoli Aerakis with award
Manoli Aerakis has been recognised as a talented emerging director by the Nelson Marlborough branch of the Institute of Directors.
Manoli, who is managing director of Malloch McClean Tasman, has been a member of the Directors’ Institute since 2013.
He was announced winner of the 2018 Duncan Cotterill Emerging Director Award at a special branch function in Nelson on 28 August.
Manoli currently serves on the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce Board and works alongside the Ngati Apa ki te Ra to Trust board and group of companies. He was previously on the board of the Nelson SPCA.
IoD Nelson Marlborough Emerging Director Award judges John Palmer, Ed Johnson and Julie Baxendine said they were impressed by Manoli’s high energy, passion for strategy, recognition of the importance of culture, clear focus and understanding of risk.
“He was well prepared and showed structure in his approach to governance, both through his business and community roles,” the judges said.
Manoli has a background in sales, marketing and banking roles and is coaching others around New Zealand in how to set their firms up for the modern world, in governance point and operations.

Manoli’s prize includes $1000 towards an IoD Director Development course, one year’s complimentary IoD membership, a director internship with a local board for 6-12 months, mentoring from an experienced director, Air New Zealand travel valued at $500, plus complimentary attendance at a range of Nelson Marlborough IoD branch functions.
The Institute of Directors Nelson Marlborough branch runs its awards every second year. Previous winners have included Marina Hirst-Tristram, Dave Ashcroft and Mike Brown.
