MHV Water Ltd (MHV) is one of NZ’s largest irrigation schemes, delivering water and managing the environmental compliance for over 50,000 ha of highly productive farmland in the Hekeao/Hinds Plains of Mid Canterbury. We are a farmer owned co-operative with 206 shareholders and significant investments in infrastructure.
MHV holds the land use consent and permit to farm on behalf of our shareholders and we take a lead role in the environmental compliance of that consent as well as having a commitment to environmental research. We are supported by Irrigo, a shared service provider of environmental, infrastructure and administration services and are a shareholder of Rangitata Diversion Race Management Limited.
The board is comprised of six directors elected from the shareholder base, and up to two independent directors appointed by the Board. The day to day leadership and management is delegated to the CEO who leads a team of 8-10 staff and manages expenses of c. $5.0m per annum with a replacement value of assets of c.$200-$250m.
MHV is now seeking expressions of interest for the position of Independent Director to fill our second appointed position.
MHV is seeking a director with strengths in one or more of the following areas:
• Environmental Science
• Water Quality Management
• Legal experience
• Technology development
• Influencing political and social perspectives.
The Board meets on a six weekly basis and Directors may be required to attend additional subcommittee meetings on an as required basis.
Potential candidates must be Canterbury based.
The company is based in Ashburton.
