Hamish Stevens

Hamish is an Auckland based independent director and a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors.  He is an experienced board chair and holds several board committee chair positions. Hamish is currently chair of East Health Services, Evolve Education Group, and Pharmaco NZ, as well as director of Marsden Maritime Holdings, Northport, Radius Residential Care, and Counties Energy.

Prior to his governance career, Hamish held senior executive positions within some of New Zealand’s largest companies, including Tip Top Ice Cream, Heinz Wattie’s, and DB Breweries.  Hamish has an M.Com (Hons.) and MBA from the University of Auckland and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand.

Hamish believes good corporate governance is critical to ensure New Zealand is able to build strong and sustainable entities that contribute to the country’s financial and social wellbeing.  It is also important to ensure there is sufficient oversight of strategy and risk which supports a transparent, accountable and ethical culture within organisations.

A thespian in his other life, Hamish is a strong supporter of and participant in the performing arts and has appeared in many theatrical stage roles across Auckland in recent years.
