As a partner at Buddle Findlay in Wellington, Alastair has practised corporate and public law for over 25 years, advising a variety of public and private sector clients on corporate governance and directors' duties. Alastair is a Commissioner on the board of EQC, chair of Co-operative Life Ltd, director of Invercargill Airport Ltd and a member of MBIE’s Risk and Advisory Committee as well as a member of the Advisory Board of Cancer Trials New Zealand. Previous roles include being a director and deputy chair of Medical Assurance Society Ltd, a member of the board of Buddle Findlay, and chair of the Latin America New Zealand Business Council.
Alastair has specific expertise in the health and primary sectors and is an expert on cooperative and mutual company structures. Before joining Buddle Findlay he spent nine years as a diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Governance roles provide a great opportunity to serve the organisation and the wider community. They are also a challenge and require commitment to continuous learning.
Alastair enjoys choral music and is a member of Wellington's Orpheus choir.
