John Signal, Chartered Fellow of the IoD, will present on his journey with ProTen, and give his insights of being a successful investor and operator of agri-business enterprises over the past 40 years.
John Signal joins us to talk about his journey with ProTen, the originally NZ business that became the biggest grower of broiler chickens in Australia. Joining the business in 1999 John helped guide the company as it crossed the Tasman, raised equity on the Unlisted Exchange and was eventually sold to private equity interests. This will be a fascinating session detailing the highs and lows of what has been an epic journey.
John has been a successful investor and operator of agri – business enterprises for the past 40 years.
Meat processing, exporting, farming, property and related primary industry activities have been the backbone to John’s career. John is involved as an investor and director of multiple enterprises based across NZ and Australia. Until recently John was the chair of the board of ProTen Limited and a shareholder, prior to its sale to First State Superannuation for $380m.
John has a long career with the IoD and governance, becoming a Chartered Fellow of the Institute in 2011. He is also chair and past director / trustee of several community enterprises, namely Feilding Health Care Limited – current chair, Sprout Agri business accelerator – past chair and Manfeild Park as a past trustee.
