Overview

At the beginning of this event the Taranaki Branch of the Institute of Directors will hold its AGM. This formal part of the event is usually very brief and non-members are welcome.

Joe Hanita was the inaugural Taranaki Branch Emerging Director 2018 and was awarded an Emerging Director Board position on Port Taranaki Limited.

Richard Krogh is the chair of Port Taranaki Limited and has significant governance and executive experience.

Joe and Richard will share their learnings and observations from the perspectives of the award recipient side and also that of the Port Taranaki Board.

Richard Krogh

Richard is an independent director and consultant, and chairs Port Taranaki Limited, PKW Farms GP Limited, Top Energy Limited, Ngwaha Generation Limited. He is alsoa director of First Gas group of companies and Energia Limited.

Richard has significant governance and executive experience, with a particular focus in the energy and infrastructure, and more recently in the agriculture. Richard was previously the chief executive of Powerco and was acting chief executive of Firstgas during its formation. He has been a director of a number of infrastructure businesses in New Zealand, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom. Richard has also served on a number of industry organisation boards and was a former chair of the Electricity Networks Association.

Richard is an electrical engineer and is a Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.

Joe Hanita

Joe has over 18 years financial and management experience working across the various tiers of accounting public practice along with over seven years in the health and education sectors.

Joe has held various directorships and is currently an associate director for Wakatu Incorporation and an independent director on the Audit and Risk Committee for Atihau Whanganui Incorporation. He is chief financial officer of Parininihi ki Waitotara Incorporation 

Joe holds certifications as a Fellow Chartered Accountant with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and as a Chartered Public Finance Accountant with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy in the UK. Also, Joe is a Member of the Institute of Directors and will be undertaking the Chartered Member assessment in 2020.
