Personal experience and insights as an executive director of a NZX listed company.
Chris will talk about his experience of being a listed company director, what he sees as the pros and cons of being listed, and touch on what it’s like to be an executive director wearing both the governance hat and the CEO hat.
Chris Hopkins is a graduate of the University of Otago and is a Qualified Accountant and a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand.
He is involved in several private businesses at various stages of development from start-ups to mature companies and serves as a director and business mentor. Chris is currently chair of Health Central Ltd and a director of Oakwood Group and Dunedin City Holdings.
Chris spent 25 years with NZX listed Scott Technology Ltd, and over half of those as Managing Director and CEO. Scott is an engineering, robotics and automation company that specialized in technology development and deployment across the world focused on several key industries including meat processing, mining and advanced manufacturing. During his time with the company Chris led Scott’s growth, via a range of technology developments, acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, from $20m to over $200 million of mainly international revenues.
Prior to that Chris spent ten years working for Deloitte, including several years in Deloitte’s London, UK office.
