Your board needs to be ready to oversee cyber and data security alongside other business risks.
The potential for significant financial, competitive and reputational damage from a cyber-attack is high. Cyber-attacks have increased in frequency and impact during 2020, with Lion Nathan, Fisher & Paykel, NZX and many smaller organisations suffering at the hands of cyber criminals.
As part of the board’s oversight and monitoring role, it has a responsibility to hold management to account in establishing a fully integrated organisational approach to cybersecurity. It is critical that boards include time on the agenda to discuss their approach to cybersecurity, and constantly assess and reassess their capacity to address cybersecurity threats.
But as a director it can be hard to determine whether your organisation has the right security measures in place. In this Directors Deep Dive with Secure Strategy we will discuss the key questions directors need to ask about cyber risks and security measures to ensure confidence in their organisation’s cybersecurity strategy.
Numbers will be limited to 15 attendees only. Whether you are completely new to the topic or have years of relevant experience, you will be encouraged to ask questions and actively contribute your perspective.
Simon Thomas, the founder of Secure Strategy, has over 20 years’ experience working with organisations to secure their IT infrastructure. He has worked with global investment banks (Barclays Capital, NatWest Markets) based in London, and with large corporates and law firms in New Zealand. He provides training sessions in cybersecurity and fraud prevention to companies throughout New Zealand and speaks at conferences on the subject of cybersecurity.
