Following our AGM, we are delighted to have Roland Van Bommel as our guest speaker.

Recently the Productivity Commission released an interim report on the productivity of companies in New Zealand. The output is not as inspiring as it could be.

The challenge for boards is to really have the long-term view and be brave about understanding what their international options are - even from the COVID-19 confines of your home office. New Zealand has a wealth of talent, entrepreneurs and innovative products that could be taken to the world stage so why aren't we performing better?

Roland will discuss the journey he's taken with Steens Honey, the challenges, lessons learned and the outcome of his dealings with productivity in New Zealand.

Roland van Bommel

Roland is currently a Director of ChristchurchNZ, the economic and urban development agency and Chairman of Asahi Beverages Oceania. He also chairs the Pure Group, the Christchurch-based sports nutrition company and is Chairman of Steens Honey.

He is a graduate of Nijenrode Business University, the Netherlands, holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston, a MA in Social Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies/University of London and is currently completing his PhD in Management at the University of Canterbury.

Married to Amanda Booth, with two daughters and one grandson, he lives in Christchurch.
