The importance of well-being has become more apparent as a result of COVID-19.

What are our duties as directors’ to look after our teams’ well-being? And how can we be sure we are successful in doing so?

David Downs

In his ‘day job’, David Downs is a general manager at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), working with the technology sector to help fast growing tech companies grow internationally. He also leads a cross-government project for the Agritech sector. David has held various roles at NZTE, including services, customer and corporate services teams.

David spent 13 years at Microsoft, in New Zealand and as regional director for South East Asia and has set up and run successful businesses of his own. David is a published author on New Zealand Innovation, with two highly successful books – No.8 Re-wired, and No.8 Recharged.

He’s an ex-comedian, TV and radio actor, and a genetically modified organism who documented his battle with cancer in the book A Mild Touch of the Cancer. David regularly presents and gives talks on his cancer journey and on the power of positive thinking and optimism.

Kristin Dunne

Kristin Dunne is CEO of Tourism Bay of Plenty and has worked in the tourism industry for the past five years.  Kristin is a Fellow of Marketing and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies. Prior to the tourism industry, Kristin held senior management roles at Vodafone and Woosh and has extensive marketing experience gained within DB Breweries, ASB BANK and Television New Zealand. Kristin is passionate about helping to create a sustainable future for tourism in New Zealand that enhances our visitors’ experience AND local communities. Tourism Bay of Plenty’s Visitor Economy Strategy 2018-2028 is recognised as an exemplar within the sector as a framework for sustainable management of a destination.
