What Matters
Governance fit for the future

Widely recognised as a trailblazer for women in sport governance, Liz Dawson will draw on her significant experience with New Zealand Cricket, the national Olympic Committee and a raft of other boards – as well her involvement in mentoring – to reflect on the changes that are occurring in governance, building capability and managing the risk that some of those changes bring.

This presentation will include time for the audience to ask questions also.

Liz Dawson has been involved in business and sports management and governance for more than 20 years and was the first female Chief Executive of an Australian Rugby League club and the first female director of a Super Rugby franchise.

Currently Liz serves as a member of the Integrity Committee of the AFL Club St Kilda, Deputy Chair of the New Zealand Olympic Committee, a member of the (ONOC) Oceania Olympic Gender Equity Commission and has recently been appointed to Gender Equity Commission of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC).  Ms Dawson is a board member of New Zealand Cricket, is Chair of the Women and Governance Steering Group and a member of the High Performance Advisory Group. She is Chair of Kiwi Insurance Limited, Kiwi Group Holdings’ life insurance company, and a shareholder and director of the Hurricanes. Ms Dawson serves as a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee to the Racing Portfolio and is a director on the board of the Racing Industry Transition Authority. In June, she was appointed to Chair the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021 organising company.
