Harnessing regional potential to create long term, sustainable value.
Join us to hear from local director Sue Foley who will share insights from her governance portfolio and how these roles represent the development of regional potential and prosperity.
Sue will also discuss the challenges in bringing these opportunities to fruition and what is possible within the regional environment context.
Ms Foley is the Director External Relations for Westpac New Zealand and is responsible for supporting the organisation’s reputation management, particularly in the area of government, stakeholder management and media. After 23 years of commuting to various senior roles from her Rangitikei home, two years ago, thanks to Westpac’s attitude towards work flexibility she stepped off the executive team to build a portfolio career that allows her to now have, just one home base in Marton.
Ms Foley joined Westpac in March 2010 from Massey University where she was Assistant Vice Chancellor, External Affairs responsible for its marketing and corporate communications, and a member of its Senior Leadership Team.
Prior to this, Ms Foley was General Manager Corporate Affairs of Toll NZ. This was during a period of significant change and public scrutiny for the organisation with the change of ownership from Tranz Rail, and then to the New Zealand Government. Ms Foley was also the company’s spokesperson during this time and dealt with numerous crisis management incidents.
She has also held senior roles across government, television, radio and public relations including Chief of Staff of the Opposition and Chief of Staff TV3 News. During 2000 she was also the communication manager for The America’s Cup Village when we retained the Cup.
Ms Foley is also Chair of FoodHQ, Director of CEDA, Trustee of the iSport Foundation, Committee member at Rangitikei Racing Club and on the Board of Trustee’s of Huntley School in Marton.
