Calling all next generation directors! Are you considering governance or actively seeking a board role? Do you want to invest in yourself and grow your skills? The Next Generation Governance workshop on 9 May is a great option.
The IoD is committed to bringing through the next generation of talented, skilled, diverse and engaged directors. This two hour workshop will give you access to some of the IoD’s most senior professional directors where you can absorb their experiences, learn from their journey and craft your own future direction.
The purpose of the workshop is to build governance capability in an interactive environment. Next Generation Governance is designed to assist in developing a pipeline of talent for governance roles, either for profit or not-for-profit. You will be exposed to real-life case studies and discussions while working alongside experienced directors to be better equipped to serve on, or work with boards.
Participants move around the tables while the experienced directors remain seated, championing one of the IoD’s Four Pillars of Governance Best Practice. The experienced directors will facilitate a brief discussion on their pillar case study and provide feedback at the conclusion.
You get face to face with some of New Zealand’s best directors. By the end of the workshop you’ll understand more about governance, the questions you might like to ask, hot topics on the agenda for your sector, the relationship between the management and the board and, why separation it necessary for effective governance. You’ll also learn what makes a good director – do you fit the bill?
While brief, the workshop will ensure the full value of the diverse knowledge, skills, background and experience around the table is available to participants.
