When WorkSafe investigates
No business plans to have a serious health and safety accident, and when one occurs, the experience is often challenging and confusing.
This presentation looks at what PCBUs and officers can expect during a WorkSafe investigation and uses real examples to illustrate the process. It also proposes some strategies PCBUs can adopt to minimise the likelihood of a prosecution occurring or reduce potential culpability if a prosecution is initiated. Finally, it briefly covers how the investigation of an officer under the HASWA will differ from under the old Act and suggests some particular areas of vulnerability that officers may face.
