Introduction to Finance in Governance with Paul Manning

This session has been created for those new to Governance, or anyone who would like a better understanding of the financials of business at a Governance level.

This short, interactive presentation will include;

  • Overview of financial reporting requirements
  • Solvency matters
  • Understanding financial section of Board reports
  • Director versus management obligations with finances and reporting

Paul is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and also a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.

He is one of the owner/directors of BDO in Tauranga and spends a significant amount of time acting as an independent advisor to a number of clients (both SMEs and NFPs) to improve their governance and strategic focus.

He also conducts independent appraisals of struggling businesses, often at the request of a secured lender. It becomes quite apparent the governance function in these companies is often either insufficient or non-existent. He is totally committed to improving governance in SMEs.

Paul is currently a Director of Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service Incorporated (the Mount Surf Club) and is also a volunteer business mentor with Business Mentors New Zealand.
