Senior Leadership Team
Kirsten (KP) Patterson - Chief ExecutiveKirsten Patterson is the Institute of Directors Chief Executive. She is a qualified lawyer, Chartered Fellow of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand, and has extensive governance and leadership experience. She is a strong advocate on diversity issues. Kirsten (known as KP) is Chair of the Wellington Homeless Women’s Trust, a Trustee and Director of the NZ Rugby Foundation, and a member of the Audit and Risk Committee for Te Tumu Paeroa.
Felicity Caird – General Manager, Governance Leadership Centre
Felicity leads the Governance Leadership Centre, which keeps members up-to-date on key governance developments, current best practice and issues affecting directors and their roles. Felicity has a public sector background, and has worked at the Office of the Auditor-General where she reported to Parliament on the performance of public entities, and at the State Services Commission on governance in the wider state sector. Felicity has an MA in history from the University of Canterbury and a DipLib from Victoria University.
Chris Fox – General Manager, Corporate Services
Chris is our Corporate Services Manager. He and his team are responsible for all aspects of finance, information technology, human resources, reception and administration. Chris has been with the IoD since April 2014 and he is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) - formerly NZICA.
Nikki Franklin – General Manager, Members
Nikki Franklin heads the Members team within the IoD. Her background is largely in marketing and general management for large corporates such as Unisys, IAG, Southpower, Canterbury of New Zealand and the Mount Cook Group. She has a BCom in Marketing and a BA in German from University of Auckland.
Dr Michael Fraser – General Manager, Learning and Commercial
Michael leads the Learning and Commercial Teams at the Institute of Directors. Michael is a seasoned executive with a diverse background and experience across education and thought leadership in professional bodies. Michael previously worked as the General Manager for Content and Learning at Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and lectures on a fractional basis for Victoria University of Wellington Business School. Michael has a special interest in how learning experiences shape our current and future leaders.
Sarah Deans - General Manager, People and Culture
Sarah leads our people and culture function, and will implement the IoD's people strategy with a focus on building a high-performing and inclusive team culture. Prior to joining IoD, Sarah was human resource manager at Beef + Lamb New Zealand. Previous to that, she was a specialist recruiter for Rob Law Maxrecruitment and worked in the hospitality industry sector including as a business owner. Sarah holds a BCA in Organisational Behaviour, Management and Marketing and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management from Victoria University of Wellington.
