The Institute of Directors is pleased to see the NZX taking steps to address diversity on boards in New Zealand.
While every step helps there is still a long way to go and much to do in this area. We would encourage all companies to take this as a starting point and consider developing their own diversity policy.
Diversity is not just about gender. Diversity is about having a wide range of skill, experience, background and perspective, gender is simply a part of that. All boards can benefit from better decision-making, balanced risk-taking and robust debate that comes from having true diversity.
