JAMES MILLER ONZM
James Miller ONZM is an experienced company director. He is currently Chair of Channel Infrastructure, Director of Vista, Ryman Healthcare and Deputy Chair of Fletcher Building Limited.
James has previously held Board positions with Accident Compensation Corporation, including Chair of ACC’s Investment Committee, managing a $50billion fund, Mercury, Auckland International Airport, NZX as Chair, the Financial Markets Authority, Fisher LIC Boards, Vector, Financial Reporting Standards, ABN Amro Securities and Craigs Investment Partners. He was also an inaugural board member of the INFINZ Board.
Prior to this James had 14 years capital markets experience. James is a Fellow of INFINZ, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand, the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand and the Institute of Directors (CFInstD). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Otago University and is a graduate of The Advanced Management Program, Harvard Business School (USA).
James was the winner of the 2006 INFINZ Analyst of the Year and 2007 Stockbroker of the Year awards.
James spent many years giving back to the capital markets. During his time at NZX he:
- In his own way attempted to unite the capital markets with the NZX 150th celebration and book “Stories from the Marketplace”.
- He also commissioned a framework for future capital markets development with Capital Markets 2029.
- Started the globalisation journey for NZX from a regional stock exchange by signing commercial dairy derivative deals with the European Energy Exchange, Singapore Stock Exchange and Fonterra and signed MOU’s with Nasdaq, Shanghai Stock Exchange, ASX and the Singapore Stock Exchange amongst others.
- Modernised NZX regulation by creating NZX RegCo and the Corporate Governance Institute.
