Te Arawa me Mataatua me Tainui ngā waka, Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara, Ngāti Whakaue, Ngāti Pukeko,  Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Manawa, Ngāti Maahanga, Ngāti Haua, Ngāti Tuwharetoa ki Kawerau ngā iwi.  Te Arawa, Mataatua and Tainui carried Eugene’s ancestors to Aotearoa New Zealand.  Raised in Rotorua by his koroua and kuia, Eugene graduated from Waikato University with a Bachelor of Management Studies. He’s worked in a variety of multinational sales, marketing and market research roles in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. With his wife Tina and their tamariki Rawiri, Mikaere and Māia, they returned to Rotorua, to work in health and iwi environmental and social service sectors.

Eugene’s current role is Tumu Whakarae (CEO) of Te Runanga o Ngati Manawa, the post settlement governance entity for Ngati Manawa. Eugene is a Chartered Member of the IoD and has served on several boards including; Korowai Aroha Health Centre, Te Arawa Whānau Ora, Te Rau Ora Ltd, Lakes PrimeCare and Anglesea Clinic Director (Urgent Care Providers).
