DR ASHALYNA NOA

Pesetā Dr Ashalyna Noa is a New Zealand born Samoan based in Ōtautahi Christchurch. She is an educator, researcher, and community volunteer. Ashalyna’s aiga (family) and community plays an integral role in who she is and the motivation behind her work.

With 17 years’ experience working in tertiary education, Ashalyna is a Pacific Academic Lead at the University of Canterbury (UC). Her PhD with the UC Macmillan Brown Centre for Pacific Studies, explored New Zealand and China’s foreign aid in the Pacific and Samoan stakeholder perceptions.

Ashalyna is passionate about amplifying Pacific peoples’ connections with Asia. In 2023, she co-founded the 03 Talanoa to amplify stories of Pacific peoples with Asia. She has also been a member of the Asia New Zealand Foundation Leadership Network since 2017. 

She currently serves as the Southern Vice President of P.A.C.I.F.I.C.A. Inc, a national NGO for Pacific women in Aotearoa New Zealand.
