Dean is currently the chair of Fulton Hogan and Ryman Healthcare, and a director of Auckland International Airport and The Warehouse Group.

Prior to moving into governance some 5 years ago, Dean was CEO of Silver Fern Farms, New Zealand’s largest red meat processor and exporter and one of New Zealand’s largest primary industry manufacturer. The business had revenue of over 2 billion dollars, some 7,000 staff across initially 21 sites and exported to over 30 countries around the world. With the leadership team, Dean lead a substantial program of change and improvement program.

Prior to the Silver Fern Farms role, Dean worked for Deutsche Bank for over 10 years as an investment banker in NZ and more latterly as a Managing Director in Australia where he focused on M&A, strategic advice and capital raisings. This followed GM and CEO roles across retail, food and manufacturing.

Dean studied at Victoria University in Wellington graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce & Administration
