Experienced Directors' Workshop
Curriculum Level: Experience/Mastery
Directors often tell us how valuable it is to interact with and hear from other experienced directors.
We have been able to secure several highly experienced directors who will not only share their stories with you but will also discuss the role that governance plays around the board table. It provides a highly interactive environment for reviewing, debating and exchanging opinions on issues facing New Zealand directors.
Topics for this course are set each year to reflect the hot issues at the time. Experienced directors should consider attending this course on a regular basis every few years as a way of staying current on the most topical issues.
The 2010 workshops will focus on the idea of 'Governing for Survival' and 'Directing for Value'. Each day will comprise of a mix of presentation and discussion, guest speakers and real life case studies.
Day One looks at what being a director is really all about; the concept of reactive governance with directors focussing on short-term objectives aiming to survive difficult times. In the evening we meet for dinner and you have the opportunity to interact on a social level with our presenters and guests.
Day Two then shifts the focus to proactive governance, where we look at longer term objectives such as adding value, maximising economic growth prospects and looking past the recession.
