2. Research and Policy
The research and policy unit maintains a Code of Practice for Directors and develops best practice guidelines for New Zealand directors. The unit also has responsibility for developing submissions to Government and regulatory bodies on changes that affect enterprise in New Zealand.
Code of Practice
- The code provides guidance to directors in New Zealand to carry out their duties and responsibilities effectively and in accordance with the highest professional standards.
- It is important to note that as a member you have agreed to abide by this Code of Practice.
Principles of Best Practice for New Zealand Directors
- A comprehensive document which deals with commonly encountered issues and problems for directors, this publication is a practical guide to best practice in New Zealand.
- The extensive body of knowledge which was originally contained in a series of discrete best practice statements has been revised to reflect recent developments and reformulated under the IoD’s four pillars of good governance - determination of purpose, holding to account, effective governance culture and sound compliance.
- Members receive a copy of the Principles of Best Practice for New Zealand Directors free of charge. A copy and any updates can be downloaded via the members’ only area of this website. If you are a member, click here to login and download.
Annual Director Remuneration Survey
- In conjunction with Strategic Pay, the IoD conducts an annual survey of director remuneration.
- Survey results are available to members at a discounted rate.
- Members who participate in the survey receive a personalised report of their own remuneration compared to sector information.
