STEVE ANDERSON CFInstD

Steve is mainly retired but keeps busy on the board of the Heart Foundation, as well as being an expert in residence at the start-up incubator of the Ministry of Awesome in Christchurch.

Prior to his retirement in 2022, Steve was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Foodstuffs South Island Ltd in June 2000. In October 2010 Steve took on the role of Managing Director of Foodstuffs (New Zealand) Ltd and became the Chairman of Foodstuffs NZ Liquor Ltd (Liquorland).

Steve was also the Chairman of the Food for Thought Trust, a free nutritional education programme that assists year 5 and 6 primary school children in making healthier food and lifestyle choices. In January 2015 Steve became a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors.

Prior to joining Foodstuffs, Steve spent five years working for Mainland Products Ltd in Dunedin as General Manager – Sales. He has also worked for both Shell New Zealand Ltd as a Retail Sales Manager and Shell International Chemical Company, based in London, as a Business Analyst. Steve previously chaired Loyalty New Zealand and was also a Board member of Arthur Barnett Ltd in the 1990s.

Born and educated in Dunedin, Steve attended Otago Boys High School and then went on to Otago University where he gained a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Geology and a Masters in Business Administration.
