PAM ELGAR ONZM, MInstD

Pam's governance experience spans many years with international and New Zealand organisations. Positions held include Executive Board member International Hockey Federation and President Oceania Hockey Federation with over 20 years’ involvement in global sports and not for profit organisations, small, medium and large. Her contribution to governance is drawn from broad and specific experience on Finance, HR, Remuneration and nomination committees. This is complemented by a CE and leadership career in various not for profit, financial services and government owned organisations.  Pam is deeply skilled in Board strategy, financials, governance and risk and business integrity.

The focus she brings to a board is built on the why and how organisations deliver and meet their purpose with accountability. Pam also brings a broad and proven perspective to strategic thinking and governance purpose, especially how Boards support management to be successful whilst holding them (and the Board itself) to account for their actions.

Pam is described as open, strategic, results focused, supportive and pragmatic in her governance roles, with a strong desire to add value in whatever role she undertakes.  Her passion centres on helping people and their organisations achieve success and pursue new potential.

Currently, Pam holds three full Board roles – co chair with Auckland Restorative Justice Trust, member Paralympic’s New Zealand and co chair of Presbyterian Support Northern as well as Honorary role of President Hockey New Zealand and Vice President Female Auckland Hockey.  She also serves as Chair of the nominating panel for Wispa (Women in Sport Aotearoa) and member of nominating panel for Tennis New Zealand.

Pam has had an extensive leadership career in executive roles spanning not for profit, banking and public sector.  The past ten years has been as CEO Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Zealand, and CEO of Surf Life Saving Northern region.

She is a member of Institute of Directors, and  works full time on contract with Auckland Council as General Manager Community and Social Innovation
